KZN Monthly game

11 October 2022

Good day fellow Qaccers,

The end of the year is in sight, apart from our away game at Cotswold downs, only our last game of the year remains. We as Committee are looking forward to hosting you all at our final game at Royal Durban. Much planning is being done behind the scenes currently to ensure we match up to last year’s final game and prize giving ceremony.

Membership Report

Our target for membership beginning of 2022 was to get our full time membership up to sixty (60) members. We unfortunately had a few longstanding members leave us this year due to various personal reasons. However I am very proud and excited about the many new members we managed to enrol this year. It will remain a priority for 2023 from the Committee and each member to encourage visitors to come play at our monthly games. Ultimately these visitors soon join the QACCS team. Thank you everyone who brought visitors throughout the year, and to those members who welcomed visitors openly at each game, making them feel part of the team, thank you.

2022 in Review

My last Newsletter for 2022 will be coming to you all in the beginning of December and we will be recapping another great year for the QACCS KZN branch. Taking us back to our National victory in East London to our monthly games and memories created in 2022.

Milworth Cup and Plate

The Milworth Cup Final has been played and the 2022 victors were Eduard Bisschoff and Hugo Britz! Narrowly topping Steve Cooper and Grant Poppesqou at Durban Country Club. There are not many

QACCS KZN trophies that do not have either Grant or Steve or both their names on them. They have been a formidable team and always fun to be part of a match play event against them. Thank you all the members that played in the Milworth this year. We are looking forward to 2023 event.

However we still have the all-important Milworth Plate final between Jannie Bisschoff and Brendon Quail against Patrick Pinn and Vincent Regaud.  This game will be played at Royal Durban on the 24th of November. Good luck guys!

QACCS Eclectic

The Eclectic yearly challenge was tightly contested this year, with (31) thirty one players within six points from the top. Durban Country Club was the last game where points could be won for the Eclectic Cup, we will have to wait until the 24th of November to see who is walking away with the spoils for 2022.

QACCS Apparel

Our new white playing shirts are available to purchase. Please get your orders in to Helen if you wish to purchase a QACCS playing shirt for R375.00. Also we have 22 new caps.

Monthly Games

Our October game was played at DURBAN COUNTRY CLUB on the 04th and the course was in top condition.

Following the long hiatus for Country Club repairing flood damages, the course was playing like we expected and always a great venue to host a QACCS golf game. We had a four ball alliance with two scores to count. And although we had 30 members partake on the day, it was a great day away from the office.

Thank you to Clint Jacoby for handing the Fines on the evening.

Away Game – Cotswold downs

Please remember our away game at Cotswold downs Golf Estate is Thursday the 20th of October. We still have limited space for a few members that want to join us on the day. The time sheet have now been issued by Helen.

Newsletter 10/2023

Good day fellow Qaccer’s,

Our End of Year game is in sight and so 2023 is busy coming to a close. Sporting wise probably the biggest news will be the Springbok RWC win. The last three games really kept us on the edge of our seats. But for the next four years, we are World champions and not a thing anyone can do about it!!

Our Protea’s cricket team suffered a humiliating loss against India earlier in the week. Seems like our guys were not on top of their game. They did not show the same tenacity that they played the tournament thus far. Perhaps best that the loss came now, in the pool games. Learn and rectify before the semi-finals.

Africa’s Major, the Nedbank Golf challenge is taking place at Sun City this weekend. Many will remember the course we played at our National event there earlier in 2023.

Our away game was played at the Wild Coast Sun on Friday the 27th of October. The wind was in fine form. But our members still managed to score a lot of points. Interesting scoring introduced on each hole which made it very tricky and yet enjoyable. Thank you to all the members that made the trip out to Port Edward and was part of the away game.

Membership Report

We started 2023 with fifty four (54) full time Members, of which two (2) are Honorary Life Members. We encourage members to bring visitors a long to our monthly games.

Sponsorships

Thank you kindly to all our sponsors for their commitment to QACCS KZN for 2023. Thank you to:

Monthly Games

Our remaining fixture list for 2023:

Thursday 23 November 2023 Royal Durban Golf Club

The final draw for our Year End game will be done by the end of this week.

GOLFRSA Handicap

Please remember to open a round and complete the round after every QACCS monthly game on the app. Alternatively use your card at each venue to open a round and complete your score for the day. If a member does not enter scores after their rounds, they will not be eligible for prizes/trophies at the end of Year game.

ScoreCapture

It is important to get a feel for the app. Once used, one is likely to always use the app as it makes scoring very easy. From 2024 we will be moving over to Scorecapture for our monhtly scoring alongside the physical scorecard.

Birthdays in November

Congratulations to members celebrating their Birthdays in November:

09 Grant Poppesquo

29 Nick Dryer

QACCS National Data Base

Our National QACCS Website is up and running (https://qaccs-nationals.co.za/). The National committee has asked all regions to register their members on the website before the end of this year. The idea is so that a National Data base of each member is created and stored making it easier to register for National tournaments. Also each Qaccer from any region will be able to search the national database for any member for details when doing inter-provincial business.

There are two ways to register yourself, it takes three minutes.

Option One: Go to the QACCS national website, click on the ‘’Membership’’ tab and select ‘’Membership application’’. Fill in your details and select ‘’Existing Member’’ under the Membership question.

Option Two: Scan the QR Code with your camera on your smartphone. This will open the link directly to the ‘’Membership application’’. Fill in your details and select ‘’Existing Member’’ under the Membership question.

Once you have completed your details you will also stand a chance to win:

  1. A Free fourball in your region monthly game
  2. A Free entry to a National tournament

The Screen below shows the Application screen:

QACCS Nationals 2024 – George

The Entry forms for the 2024 Nationals will be available soon. Please mark your calendar for 2024 June.

PG Glass Ball Challenge

 How it all works…

Players with no official handicap play off 24 for men and 36 for women (Official handicaps will be checked).

On the day, a PG Glass representative will give each four-ball a PG Glass branded ball, a separate scorecard,  and entry card to capture players details. This information is important so please ensure that the card is filled in correctly. Keeping the ball alive is the challenge. If the ball is lost, its game over and a nil return is marked on the scorecard.

The designated branded ball must be used and gets rotated between players in the four-ball (the Pink Lady Format) eg. Player A = holes 1, 5, 9, 13 and 17. Player B = holes 2, 6, 10, 14 and 18. Player C = holes 3, 7, 11 and 15. Player D = holes4, 8, 12 and 16. If the playing sequence is not consistent, the four-ball will be disqualified. The Stableford score must be recorded on the separate branded scorecard provided.
